We are currently experiencing an inbound denial of service attack to our nameservers. We are working on mitigating the attack, but during this time DNS resolution may be slow or intermittent.

I guess that leads to another discussion on best "generation strategy" If you have multiple servers, do you use the same key on all of them, or use different keys. In the case of the above DDOS, it is likely that the servers that share the same key will be able to continue generating without an interruption in their generation time. With different keys, one or more of the servers may get kicked long enough that it needs to get elected again...

Never thought about it before.... Slow and steady or fast and unreliable?

DNS would only prevent "domain" based timekoin servers from keeping proper communications. All the IP only would not be affected

You could also use other DNS servers for your VPS like google or verizon for example. Stack them into a list with the VPS first and the others are backups in case of DoS on the DNS.

Hmmmm, this is weird.......

DigitalOcean have messed up (I think).

I paid $5 for one month, which is due to expire on the 11th, I had just over $1 left of credit (Daily charges), so now its gone to a new month, and I have got $4.96 in credit ? I have an invoice for 4 hours of service with charges of 3c.

I wonder how long this will last. LOL.

I was going to transfer the Generating keys to another VPS I have, with 2 IP's (2 TK servers) but I am going to see how long this lasts.

<Face Palm>

VPSNodes had an outage Tuesday night (US Time), for a few hours, and my 3 per cycle keys were de-elected. :(

What amazes me, every time i get a key drop off of election, its ALWAYS 3 per cycle, I have *NEVER* managed any better :(

What location is your VPS in ?

Do you have the auto-start cronjob script enabled?

Do you have ambient peer restarts enabled ?

I am very surprised that their outage lasted more than 2 hours :o

Memory and network showing outage. Autostart is present, Timekoin was running, just not generating. Peer restarts enabled.

3 per cycle seems to be my magic number too...

Would you be willing to be a beta tester for a plugin to help with this problem?

ARGH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

after the mass de-election, I got 2 servers out of 4 re-elected.

Servermania did their "Lets reboot the host again", and one of my 2 servers got de-elected again, another 2 hour "Reboot".

:(
